This story of film is based on well know Indian athlete Milkha Singh who has sold the story for just one rupee. The name of the movie "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" comes from the last words spoken by his father, which was to save his life from the riots of during Partition of India. During the partition, Milkha lost his family members. The story talks about his perseverance as an athlete and also as a courageous human spirit.
Most of the movie is shot in India but some part of film is shot in Melbourne, Rome and Tokyo.
